Thrifty Thursday
Just a teeny weeny post today.
I'm being frugal with my words? No, not really. You know me. I can talk under wet cement.
But I am very weary so need to make it short and sweet and get to bed. I have been playing Bridge ALL day. Yes, I know...crazy. A tournament in the morning (my very first!) followed by Social Bridge in the afternoon. Crikey! I could barely see the cards at the end. My eyes were almost bleeding like Le Chiffre in Casino Royale. I'll tell you for free (and courtesy of Wikipedia), that the condition he had is called haemolacria. Don't mention it. My pleasure.
But on to more important matters like SAVING YOU MONEY!
Some of you may know that I am a member of the Queensland Family History Society. I do bang on about the benefits of being a member of a family history society from time to time, so bear with me. The great news is that because it is National Family History Month, the Society is offering a discount on membership, but only during August.
QFHS just seems to get better and better, if it is possible. During this time of COVID isolation, our wonderful band of volunteers has ramped up their efforts even more. Did you know that as a member you can now access Ancestry, FindMyPast, The Genealogist and MyHeritage from home? Not to mention the QFHS searchable datasets which just keep growing and growing. Here's a few of them to whet your appetite:
- Commonwealth Electoral Roll (Queensland) 1903, 1906, 1913, 1922, 1934, 1941, 1949, 1959, 1969 - that's 5,012,285 records alone
- Queensland School Pupils Indexes - another 2,389,582 records
- Queensland Cemetery Collection Index
