Family Tree Frog

Sepia Saturday   this week encourages us to consider the dogs in our life or past lives and maybe the training thereof.  I could bore you witless with tales of the Adorable Arwen. Adorable Arwen She is, without a doubt, the Apple of my Eye and walking companion par excellence.  She has us wrapped around her dew claw and we have to be careful not to give her too many treats or she will end up as tubby as me. Let's have a look at some other puppies in the family tree. My mother and father both grew up with dogs.  I desperately wanted a dog when I was very little.  A black spaniel, Dino, was duly purchased and given to me when I was about six I think.  But Dino did not like me one little bit so he had to go.  Then the dachshund across the road bit me on the knee when I went to visit Elizabeth-Anne, so I was a bit shy of dogs after that.  My friends had dogs who were all very lovely - Jill's beagle Jip and Judith's endless success...

It's that time of year when we look back at what has happened in 2017 and are looking forward to the New Year.  What or who has helped us along our research path in our quest for our ancestors' stories?  I have much to be grateful for and at the top of my list is .... Arwen Number 1 - Arwen (my training partner) Now I know you are probably wondering how an earth a dog can help with family history.  Is she very good at sniffing out ancestors????  No, not really.  But she is very good at nudging me to get off my bottom and go for a walk which keeps me healthy (so I have even longer to do my family history!! Tee hee!).  In fact I was going to say at the very beginning of this post that I am incredibly grateful for my good health but I thought " Who or what can I thank for that?"    Of course I could thank my ancestors and their good genes but I really do have to thank Arwen.  I could sit for hours in front of the computer screen g...

Today's Sepia Saturday photo prompt gives us an opportunity to identify what catches our eye in this photo and what photos we may have in our collection that reflect the same objects or sentiments. What gives us joy?  A great hat?  A puppy?  New togs?   Are we looking for a sailor suit?  A dog?  A matron with a magnificent hat?  A verandah? I've brought out a couple of photos for inspection.  I've chosen to focus on dogs. I am hard pressed to find sailor suits or matrons with such magnificent millinery.
