K is for Kew (and Keyham)

Public Records Office Building
Found on Flickr.  Thanks to Julian Walker

When I first visited the Public Records Office or PRO in the UK it looked like this and was located in Chancery Lane.  In 1996 it moved to Kew.  It now looks like this...

The National Archives
Found on Flickr.  Thanks to Andrew Barclay

Sometimes it's called The Archives, sometimes it's called Kew.  So if someone talks about Kew, they're talking about TNA.

As for Keyham...well that's a suburb of Plymouth and the Keyham College was where Engineering Officers were trained.  It was founded in 1880 and closed in 1958.  For more information check out the Wikipedia article here.  For a photo of the 1st cricket eleven at the College click here.

Thank you Wendy. It's been a challenge to have these composed and scheduled to go before I went away for a week.

And the Naval records at Kew solved a few mysteries for me.
I think the first building is beautiful. The older architecture has always seemed stronger, in my opinion. I know the records kept inside don't care what the building looks like, so long as the climate is temperate and they are kept dry.

I agree with Wendy. Your topics are very interesting!

Have a great evening.
I remember the PRO in those days and was awe-struck to see the London School of Economics nearby.
