52 Ancestors in 52 weeks: Week 10/52 Samuel Foyne (1792 - 1865) - Worship

Samuel Foyne 1792- 1865

Ahnentafel Number: 34

Context for discovery:

This biography was written as part of the 52 ancestors in 52 weeks exercise devised by Amy Johnson Crow.  You can join in too here. The theme for this month is women and this week is worship.  Samuel was my 3rd great-grandfather. I do not know if Samuel was religious.  But I have records of him attending church at least to be married and for the baptism of his children.

I also hope he worshiped his wife Harriet who, unfortuntately, pre-deceased him.

For the purposes of this exercise, I am going to try and have pictures of all the churches that Samuel Foyn may have visited in his lifetime, either as a baby or a parent, baptising his own children.

Timeline including major world events, children’s Birth Dates/Places/Census et al:

CONCLUSION

Samuel Foyne Senior lived to see at least three of his five children marry.  Louisa did not marry and I have not been able to confirm if and who George married. Samuel had at least 8 grandchildren and at least one great-grandchild that I know about.

Much of this post is a repetition of one I did at the end of December on the Foynes but there is some new information.

We are keen to find out where the Foynes were from originally.  Were they English through and through from Romsey? Were they from Ireland? Were they from somewhere more exotic like Norway or Sweden?  We have asked a researcher in England to do a bit more digging for us and I look forward to the results of his research.

This week has been a challenging week.  I set myself the challenge of doing a presentation at SAG's Friday Hangout.  There were a few technical hiccups which made we want to sink into the floor but I just have to pick myself up, dust myself off and start all over again.  The great joy was that, in the process of preparing the talk, I found out even more new information which was fab :)

This week I also participated in a workshop called Creating a Family Heirloom Cookbook which has got me all excited about preparing anj Heirloom book of sorts to commemorate the passing on of a family home this year.  On Saturday I took my grandson to his first swimming lesson which was a real joy.

I hope your week more ups than downs and that your family history research was exciting and interesting.
