I shall let you know how I go if/when I pay for some research to be done at the Society or write a letter/article for the journal. Would you consider joining that #genchat on Twub that alona tester talks about on her blog? I've never done it before but I like the idea of submitting a brick wall question and seeing what comes back. The schedule is here http://www.conferencekeeper.net/genchat-2014.html. Twub is here http://twubs.com/genchat (I've never used Twub before either - New Year - New Tools ;)Alex Dawhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05083753053051713061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545255455173688148.post-50199006946476709172014-01-01T21:59:54.637+10:002014-01-01T21:59:54.637+10:00John (Thomas) Bartholomew and Elizabeth Ann Ketch ...John (Thomas) Bartholomew and Elizabeth Ann Ketch were born in Titchfield, married there and had their children there. John's parents, Thomas & Susanna King, were married in Portsea (I can't find a record for this), & lived in Titchfield, Elizabeth's parent's, William & Jane, both lived there also.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10357785232740266441noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545255455173688148.post-58477680959820979062014-01-01T16:23:07.274+10:002014-01-01T16:23:07.274+10:00Thanks Fi. Great! Look - at the moment I feel I haven't derived too much from being a member of HGS but then again I think they are going through lots of change and that it's been a big year for them - 40th Anniversary and all....so I'm reserving final judgement at this point. I really think I should try a few other things first yet (e.g. pay for some research or write a letter to the journal) before I make a decision about whether to continue membership. I really wanted to purchase downloadable PDFs on their website but couldn't make it work earlier in the year. It looks like it might work now though so I think they are still working on their website and getting it together. I am meant to be getting a monthly newsletter by email but haven't received anything yet. I am downloading their journals from the website but they are absolutely huge...40 pages each at least. Really probably better for me to go to the QFHS Library and look at them for free there but it's nice to be able to do it in the comfort of my own home. The Titchfield publication on the other hand is very slim - 11 pages. There's some good information about the village schools and public houses. Let me know what your names are and I can tell you if there is anything of interest or relevant for you.Alex Dawhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05083753053051713061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545255455173688148.post-54633582874028971252014-01-01T16:14:27.220+10:002014-01-01T16:14:27.220+10:00Hi Kylie - I just love knitting...don't get ro...Hi Kylie - I just love knitting...don't get round to it much these days though. Really wish I could crochet...I can after a fashion but I'm pretending....don't really know what I'm doing. Yes poor old Edward....was he trying to save everyone a bit of time and bother by shooting himself in the cemetery or was he really cleaning the gun? We'll never know I fear.Alex Dawhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05083753053051713061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545255455173688148.post-33542351096669773692014-01-01T16:12:32.577+10:002014-01-01T16:12:32.577+10:00Dear Jill - thank YOU for dreaming it up. I really do like reflection because I think you're right - we judge ourselves very harshly and yet, when we take the time to look back, we really do manage to cram a lot in :)Alex Dawhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05083753053051713061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545255455173688148.post-77990966695572465622014-01-01T15:02:54.718+10:002014-01-01T15:02:54.718+10:00Great post, Alex. So many highs in 2013, I hope 2014 proves to be just as good and perhaps a little pinch better.Fihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01270783758226909749noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545255455173688148.post-27703572851087465172014-01-01T12:50:25.691+10:002014-01-01T12:50:25.691+10:00Alex, I have ancestors from Titchfield, Hampshire,...Alex, I have ancestors from Titchfield, Hampshire, too! How helpful do you find being a member of Hampshire Family History Society is? I've only joined 2 societies in England so far, & they have a member's area where you can access most stuff online. What are their publications like?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10357785232740266441noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545255455173688148.post-38797044019810066612014-01-01T10:49:11.015+10:002014-01-01T10:49:11.015+10:00Hi Alex

The story about Edward Connor is good too, makes one wonder why he was at the cemetery too.<br />Kylie :-)Kylie Willisonhttp://www.blog.kyliesgenes.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545255455173688148.post-17118296821985452032014-01-01T09:12:53.763+10:002014-01-01T09:12:53.763+10:00My that is a bumper post for an enormous year.
